Where's Daddy?

Our home has been a bit crazy as of late, as a result of Ryan being called into the Bishopric of our new ward - Daybreak 10th Ward.  Other than myself (Stephanie), Kylie has had the hardest time adjusting to Daddy being away quite often.  

She often comments, 'No Church Meetings' or 'I miss Daddy'.  It became quite obvious from the start that this new assignment was going to be hard on all of us.  In fact, Kylie cried and screamed for Daddy when he was called to sit on the stand.  Thankfully, Grandpa Hobbs was there to watch Abbey while I took Kylie out into the hall to regain her composure.  

We have already been blessed by this great opportunity to serve.  We now know a little more why we felt so strongly to move to Daybreak.    

By the way, this probably means that I'll be responsible for a lot of the blogging...yikes! You'll find that I'm much slower at sharing the latest information so I'll apologize in advance.

Never to Forget

Ryan's grandfather, Karl Searle, passed away on January 23, 2008.  His passing came with some surprise, leaving all of us to ponder on the meaning of life and what lies beyond the veil. 

We made the trip to Shelley, Idaho to attend the services, which included a family viewing and a short burial service with a veteran 21-gun salute.  A fine tribute to a wonderful man that spent his whole life serving those around him.  We will never forget our grandpa.

It is comforting to have the knowledge of the gospel to lean on in these times of mourning.  We will miss him.  We will do our best to continue his legacy of service and love.

Birthday Suits to Swim Suits

Bath time at our home is always quite the adventure.  However, when you add swimming suits, it takes bath time to a new level of fun and laughter.  The transition from birthday suits to swimming suits was a request from Kylie.  Similarly to Jodi's girls, Kylie must be eager for Summer!

Family Picnic

One of Kylie's favorite play events is to have a picnic.  Her usual members are her Mom or Dad, Sam (her imaginary friend) and any one of the Disney Princesses.  

Following an evening of pretend picnicking, her Dad promised her a 'real picnic'.  Due to the cold weather, we had the picnic in the basement, in her Princess Tent.  Yes, all four of us ate pigs in a blanket, apple slices, french fries and juice boxes inside her 5' X 6' tent.  Needless to say, it made her day.  She often comments about our picnic in the Princess Tent.

 

*** Snow Day ***

This winter has brought a lot of snow to Utah.  These photos were taken right after one of the recent storms that have hit our area.  A recent storm brought 18" of snow!  The result ... church services being canceled, getting our van stuck in the middle of the road and even assisting the city snowplow in getting unstuck!  We need to go skiing!

Here are Kylie and Abbey enjoying their first outing in the snow.  It didn't last long though, as it was quite cold.  Kylie and her friend Regan did learn to throw snow balls.  Watch out!

  

Our little bear cub!

Here are few updated photos of Abbey - our little bear cub.  She climbs the stairs, crawls into cupboards, wrestles with her big sister Kylie and eats anything she can get her paws on. Watch out a wild animal is on the loose!
