Run Forest, Run

You did it Dad! Way to go! Ryan recently ran in the 2008 Ragnar Wasatch Back Relay from Logan to Park City with 11 other employees at the College that were crazy enough to say yes. As the race shirts said, 'run, drive, sleep?, repeat'. The race was completed in just over 24 hours, going through the night, into the next day.

Steph and Abbey came to the finish line to congratulate Ryan and give him a ride to Barry and Lorie's for a much needed shower (and short nap).


The entire team ran the last 100 yards with the final runner. Kylie decided she wanted to come along. She even got to receive Dad's completion medal.

Splish, Splash

One of the benefits of living in Daybreak is the many community amenities. The Splash Pool is no exception. It is Kylie's favorite!

With the water only 6-12 inches deep, Kylie was brave enough to swim. I guess that is why they call it a Splash Pool.


Kylie's cousin Micah came along. They laughed and giggled the entire time.


Perhaps one of the best photos of Abbey. Don't let her innocence fool you though - she can be a fire ball. But, she is so cute!

Peace & Quiet

We got away for 24 hours to the mountains for some much needed peace and quiet. We reserved (yes, that is required in Utah) a campsite up Little Cottonwood Canyon at Tanner's Flat. A huge thank you to Grammy Hansen for watching the girls while we were away.


Our cozy little tent. The temperatures were still a little on the cool side, with the lows the next morning in the mid 30's. Brrrr.


This photo was taken just a few yards from our campsite. The runoff from the winter snow was definitely in full force.


Stephanie enjoying the campfire. Even though we brought up some firewood, we spent some time gathering twigs and branches on the ground. Needless to say, we had a great fire well into the night and the next morning.




We traveled up the road a mile or two to the White Pines trailhead and did some hiking. Because of Utah's extreme snow year, we were hiking in snow almost the entire way. This required us to find walking sticks for adding traction and support. Eventually the snow won out and we turned around. Some day we will return to complete the trail to the White Pine Lake.

29 and Counting!

Make a wish! Ryan recently celebrated his 33rd (29 +4) birthday. As is the tradition, he had fruit pizza, instead of birthday cake. Yes, it was delicious. Happy Birthday Ryan!
