A good start

In a sealing session in the temple last evening, the sealer asked us how many children we had.  Stephanie replied, we have three.  He then paused for a second and replied, "well, that is a good start."  Whether we are blessed with other children or not, we know that he was right, it is a good start.  

We are very blessed to have such wonderful children.  If only we could keep them little!

Trick-or-Treat

Despite the weather, we had a great time trick-or-treating with our cousins.  As you can see, the girls still have a fascination with the Disney Princesses.  They are so cute!  Anyone interested in candy?  We collected our fair share.

Down, Down, Straight

For most of you reading this post, you may probably wondering why we chose such a strange title for a blog post. Well, we will explain.

Our three-year old Abbey is trying to learn her letters and numbers. Like any toddler, she is often confused as to whether or not a "b" is a "d" or a "q" or a "p". If you think about it, the English language is a little confusing.

Nonetheless, Abbey has mastered at one of her letters, the letter "A" or as she calls it "down, down, straight"... you know one line down, another line down and a line straight across. She often asks, you mean "down, down, straight"?

You have to love the innocence of a young child. We LOVE you Abbey! We are grateful that she the initial of her last name is also "down, down, straight", an "h".

I am not sure how we are going to explain the letter "s". Any ideas?

Call him crazy

Go ahead, call him crazy.  As many of you may know, Ryan was one of the "lucky" 7,500 people that were selected in a lottery to run in this year's St. George Marathon.  Over the past several months, he has been gradually training to prepare for the race.  Today, he ran 18 miles.  For reference, this distance is equivalent to running to South Jordan to American Fork.

One of Ryan's friends recently told him that the only reason he would ever run, was if he was being chased.   Ryan is beginning to wonder the same.  In running for 2-3 hours in the longer training runs, one has time too much too think.  His latest thought - a Triathlon!  He must be crazy!

The Next American Idol

Cuddle Bug

As Stephanie desired, she got a cuddle bug.  Carter loves to cuddle with Mom.  He smiles instantly for her and has her smile.  He is such a happy baby.

Now, at a little over 2 months, he weighs 12.4 pounds (70%) and is 25 inches (90%) long.  A future basketball star appears to be a possibility.  Cross your fingers.

Father's Day Blessing

We had the great privilege of blessing Carter Ryan Hobbs in our home on Father's Day - June 20, 2010.   What a special treat for Dad!

Thank you for all of our family and friends that traveled to participate in this memorable event.  

Wow, the big '35'!

In June, Ryan celebrated his 35th birthday.  Yes, we said, 35.  Wow, he is getting old!  :)

As is tradition, we had fruit pizza.  Mmmm, good.  Although, given its sugar count, it is wise that we only have it once a year.

Ragnar Relay

For a third consecutive year, Ryan joined a few of his work colleagues in running in the Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay from Logan to Park City, Utah.  And why does one submit oneself to such torture?  Well, I am still now sure.  But, it was fun!  Can't wait until next year.

Oh Boy!

Our family has a new addition, Carter Ryan Hobbs. Yeah, a boy! He was born Wednesday, May 19, weighing in at 7 lbs 13 oz and measuring 21 inches long. Other than having the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, the delivery went perfectly. Below are a few photos from the past two days. We will add more later. Welcome Carter!

Easter Cookies

Stephanie and the girls had fun baking Easter cookies earlier this weekend. They were popular with everyone who came to visit. The girls were introduced to cookie dough. Somehow, we were able to savage enough dough to make a few cookies! Happy Easter!

Where are we going?

The past several weeks (ok, maybe months), we have been preparing for the arrival of little Carter. We have been busy trying to decorate and furnish his nursery. We both didn't realize how difficult it is to find things for boys.

This past Saturday, we ventured out for another trip to a local consignment store, trying to find a night stand and wall shelf to go with the vintage items (airplane, cars, truck, motorcycle) already purchased. We traveled across the valley only to find that the consignment store was no longer in business. We soon found ourselves heading back to a store that we had visited just the day before. Nearly 40 minutes into the adventure, Kylie states the following, "Where are we going? ... No Where!" We all just started to laugh. We laughed and laughed and laughed. It couldn't have been said any better. Where are we going ... it certainly felt like "no where".

Once again, our children often help us put things in their proper perspective and bring transparency. I think we are going to put the nursery furnishing on hold for a little while.

Winter Bike Ride

The cold weather has had all of us feeling a little cooped up. As you can see, Steph and the girls took advantage of a little warmer day to get in a bike ride.
